Hi,

I’m Miss Jeanne @ my home away from home, the best library in the world!

In case you don’t know, I love working with children!  My favorite age group: Toddlers!

Because I adore this age I am charged with orchestrating the Toddler, Family & Friends Story Time!   We definitely have a blast at story time every Wednesday but it’s all about early literacy and falling in love with books!   We read great books, sing songs, recite rhymes and finger plays, and we even dance a rumba or two!

Kids take home a new rhyme each week to add to their ‘Ring of Rhymes’!

Parents also collect a ‘Peep’ science tip of the month to inspire them to help their child discover their world!   Peep and the Big Wide World and tons of preschool science tips can be found on our website: http://www.wpbpl.com/kids/play_learn.htm

Because I’ve had many years experience as a certified preschool teacher and as an elementary/ middle school it was not a stretch to become a children’s librarian.  I was awarded a full scholarship from Southeast Florida Library Information Network (SEFLIN) http://www.seflin.org/  to earn my Masters in Library Science from University of South Florida

and now I’m very happy to say I am a full fledge librarian!  I specialize not only in early literacy

but also science programming for elementary age kids!

Other programs I coordinate are the Sundays @ 2 for families!

These programs are designed for working parents who want to create wonderful memories with their families on a day they can all be together in a relaxed setting.  We explore, discover & create!  The interactive projects are geared for family fun and discovery and they always take home something special!  Say, “cheese”, because I also take great family photos!

Other job responsibilities include submitting press releases for our library to the all different media.

And also using Web 2.0 to input all our great programming into our online calendar!  Check out our Kids Space calendar link: http://www.seflin.org/calendar/index.cfm?orgID=41; you can find out what’s happening @ your city library anywhere, anytime!

We are a creative team of librarians that truly love what they do!   Visit us at our library: www.mycitylibrary.org
