Like many of you, I moved to Florida from a less tropical location. Less than a year ago I moved from my home in Michigan to come and work here at the world’s nicest library! I always knew that I wanted to work with children and families in promoting literacy. After graduating from library school at Wayne State University, I started a nationwide search for a dynamic, creative, and friendly library family to join. All it took was a couple of conversations with the librarians here for me know that I had found my home. I’m so happy to be here with all of you!
I create story-times for preschoolers on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and I love it! Come on in and join us for stories, songs, and games: story-times start September 9th! Another program that I am super excited about here at the library is the Saturday Kids’ Club! It’s a Kindergarten and 1st grade book club that meets monthly starting in September as well. Each month, children come into the library to pick up the special kids’ club book to read before the club meeting! Then we come together and play games, talk about the book, have snacks, and, of course, just have a really good time! I’d love to tell you more about the programs that I’m involved with here at the library! You can call me at 561-868-7724 or come on in for more details!
You know how much fun it is to share your favorite things with others, right? That’s how I feel about children’s books! I always get a kick out of the pigeon books by Mo Willems- Don’t Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late is my favorite. I have a personal copy signed by Mo himself, and I just love it! What I love more than reccommending books to you is hearing your recommendations.
I just read No Talking by Andrew Clements after one of you recommended it to me! It’s a great story about a contest between 5th grade boys and girls to see who can talk the least! I could go on and on about favorites and can’t wait to hear yours as well!
