Comet

Ice, rock, dirt,
Metal and gas -
Around the sun
A comet may pass.
A dirty snowball
Of space debris.
The biggest snowball
That you’ll ever see.

April is National Poetry Month and also a wonderful time to motivate someone you know to be outspoken through their artistic talent, like poetry.  I remember when I first started writing poetry…April is National Poetry Month by nataliesap.

It was the late 90’s in early March and I was very excited about this new house my mother and I moved into.  But, for some odd reason, I always got flustered when telling my friends and other family members about it.  So, I decided to write it down so that I would never forget and to avoid getting all flustered when telling people about my wonderful home.  That was my very first poem, and I have written many, many more since then.

Share poems with one another and motivate someone you know to write.

Here are some awesome poetry books that can be checked out at the West Palm Beach Public Library’s KidSpace:

holiday_title_art2Many people celebrate Christmas during this season, but have you ever thought about the other holidays that take place or do you celebrate another holiday?????

It is important to be aware of other cultural celebrations and rituals that are different from your own.  Many people celebrate Christmas, Chanukah (Hanukkah), Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr, Kwanzaa, Diwali, and many more during this season.

Always remember, though you may celebrate the same holiday as someone else, everyone celebrates holidays differently around the world because of cultural traditions/rituals.  Neither is better or worse, it is simply different.

For more information about these holidays or if you just want to learn about world holidays, come visit KidSpace at the West Palm Beach Public Library.
